The Ray Dolby Centre, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge

Working in close collaboration with architects Jestico + Whiles, StudioFractal are developing comprehensive Lighting Designs for the famous Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. Replacing the existing Department of Physics facilities, the new facility will comprise - advanced equipment for over 15 research groups in theoretical and experimental physics, extensive teaching and learning spaces, including a 409-seat lecture theatre, resource centre, outreach and exhibition spaces, common room and various collaborative working areas for researchers and students. The lighting designs integrated throughout the new building are designed to complement and enhance the architectural language, encourage collaboration and communication, and support the cutting-edge research on site.
